Moss Bay corner shop customer throws coffee at armed robber

A man who attempted to rob a corner shop fled empty handed after a customer threw a hot coffee at him.

The robber who was bearing a hammer demanded money from the cashier at the Moss Bay, Premier store in Cumbria around 06:15.

Police have arrested a 34-year-old who is suspected of the crime and currently being held in custody.

Cumbria Police are trying to track down the man who threw the coffee as well as any witnesses that could help.
