Ganda Blackwell thought buying lottery tickets were a complete waste of time and called her husband Buddy a fool when he asked her if she would get him a couple lottery tickets.
She said: 'Sometimes I get aggravated with him, so I tell him, You're just wasting your money.'
Never the less she went and bought the lottery ticket from the shop which cost her 10 dollars hoping to justify her point that gambling is a complete waste of money.
Blackwell seemed to have a solid plan until the ticket she bought turned out to be a winner for a million dollars.
'I had to eat my words, but they were worth eating. So, I was very happy.'
After winning a million you would think the couple would be able to start living the high life but after tax it turns out they only received 415,503 dollars.
At the time the family were struggling with money issues but now they will have enough to buy their own house as well as having enough left to put towards their two granddaughters college fund.
